Family Trip to Galveston

We went away last weekend for an end of the summer, quick-trip family vacation to Galveston Island, Texas. Although the travel there was a bit rough (Wesley was fussy most of the way) we had a great time at the beach.

It rained for a short while on Sunday morning and resulting cloud cover was so beautiful! And we got a rainbow (below) with the moon showing just below it.

Wesley had the most fun just playing with the air conditioner in our hotel room.

We only tried taking the stroller to the beach one time. There's just no point when it take two people to move it through the sand!

Fun in the sun and sand!

Wesley got used to my sun glasses on the way home. He looks kind of like a baby spy!

Splish & Splash at the Splash Park!

Last week we went to a local splash park with friends and Wesley had THE BEST time! He obviously loves water. Enjoy!

Bettin' on the Horses

This past Sunday we met my mom and my grandparents, that's Wesley's great-grandparents, out at Lone Star Park to watch one of their horses run (Mr. Brock). My grandparent's have raced horses for years now and every once in awhile they'll have one run at Lone Star but this is the first time we've been able to meet-up with them (they usually only come in for the race their horse is in and then they have to head back to Oklahoma, where they live, in time to do the nightly feeding). Anyway, here are some pictures from our day together.

Birth Centers Being Threatened

Birth centers all across the country are being threatened. Many mothers who are served by birth centers rely on Medicaid to help pay for their care but a recent push has been made to eliminate Medicaid's requirement to pay for services to birth centers, not to hospitals (they still get paid) but just to birth centers! This is a scary thing and anyone reading this, regardless of your belief of where the best place to birth is, should be concerned. First they meddle with your ability to choose your care provider and next they'll be telling you exactly how and when you'll be giving birth because "it's what's covered under your plan" or "that's what you're insurance will pay for" or "it's best for you and the baby or, to quote Monty Python, "you're not qualified" to make that decision.

I hope you will take a moment to sign the following electronic petition, organized by the American Association of Birth Centers.

Happy 1st Birthday, Wesley!!!

Instead of the usual crazy first birthday, we decided to do something a little different and just had dinner with a few friends at a local Italian restaurant called Buca di Beppo. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Family Pictures at the Arboretum

On April 3rd we finally got around to getting family pictures taken, something I've been wanting to do since Wesley was born. I found an amazing photographer through a yahoo group that I'm a member of (Earth Mama Photography). Here are a few pictures from the shoot. :)

Cutie Pie!

The last weekend in February, Wesley and I attended Baby Loves Disco here in Dallas. It's a fun little party that's usually held once a month and since MomsLikeMe.com was co-sponsoring the event, we got in for free (I worked the booth). Here are some pictures from the event and then one really cute pic of Wesley when we were at our weekly mommy breakfast get together with friends. Cutie Pie!!
